There are not a lot of podiatrists in West Virginia. Membership in the West Virginia Podiatric Medical Association helps you come together collectively to advocate for different state legislative items, understand state insurance issues, have relationships with other professional colleagues and discuss or consult on patient cases or medical issues. Through the West Virginia Board of Medicine and the regulatory Rules process, our Scope of Practice was changed to classify podiatrists as “physicians”. This is one example of what we can do together as organized podiatric physicians in West Virginia.
We have two face-to-face meetings and two video conference meetings annually. One will be scheduled for October in West Virginia (meetings rotate annually between the north and south of the state), and the other is scheduled for May 12-14, 2022, at the Ohio Foot and Ankle Scientific Seminar in Columbus, OH. We are a part of the APMA Region IV (WV/Ohio) and meet with fellow DPM’s from Ohio, including their state officers.
You can apply for membership by filling out the membership application. For your CE needs, Ohio sends a lot of programming information to WVPMA members via email.
Your voice and practice issues can’t be heard or helped without membership. We can be stronger together in looking out for Podiatry in West Virginia and for each other.
